Weddings in Jordan

I forgot to add this little tidbit before. Weddings in Jordan are huge celebrations and they end with a large fireworks display. Each family tries to out do the last. On fireworks, Soooo they get progressively louder and bigger. The weddings end at midnight with a big bang, literally. The other night, there was a wedding across the street from where we are staying & it was so loud pre fireworks even, that it woke up the kids. There are no noise ordinances of any kind either, so there's nothing to be done about it. And right at midnght, it was time for the fireworks. It scared the crap out of us just as we were going to bed, a very big, very loud display of fireworks right outside our window with all sorts of sparks flying onto the house across the street and a sumphony of car alarms. Once the shock and delusions of sleep were over, the fireworks were cool to watch.
